Blue Mitchell, one of my favourite trumpet players, known for his soulful, hard-bop playing and his ability to blend lyricism with technical precision. Born in 1930 in Miami, Florida, Mitchell emerged as a prominent figure in the 1950s and 1960s, playing with major jazz icons like Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, and Horace Silver.
